What is the American Heart Walk? The American Heart Walk is a fun event that increases community awareness of walking as a heart healthy exercise while raising funds to continue the American Heart Association's (AHA) fight against heart disease and stroke.
Who participates? Participants in the American Heart Walk are organized in teams consisting of co-workers, friends and family members. Participating walkers obtain pledges/donations prior to the event. On the day of the event, participants walk a pre-set course and take part in the Walk festivities.
Why participate? Heart disease affects someone you know. Heart disease is the #1 KILLER and stroke is the #3 KILLER in Alabama. In addition to raising money to benefit the American Heart Association, dollars raised stay to fund research and programs in Alabama.
