Temper Mill

For a plate product ranging in thickness from 3/16" to 3/4,” coils  are produced and scheduled for temper passing at the Cut To Length Line. The line features a state of the art four high temper mill with hydraulic automatic gauge control.  Coils are loaded on to a laser guided coil car and driven into position.

Once in position opposing mandrills are inserted into the eye of the coil and expanded allowing the pay off reel system to provide back tension while processing.  At this point the head of the coil is broken down and fed into the temper mill.

The temper mill will provide force to the steel sufficient enough to take a cold reduction equal to one to two percent of overall thickness.  This process is designed to remove the built in stresses present in coiled steel.  As the material moves to the next process it passes through a leveler to further correct any shape anomalies from the coiling process.  The steel is then marked according to order specification and cut to the ordered length.

When an order is completed our customer will receive dead flat, stress free plate packaged precisely to their specification and shipped on time, every time.
